The news: Las Vegas’s summer convention calendar is stacked. Las Vegas Market (~38,000 attendees, Jul 26 to 30), Def Con (~30,000, Aug 7 to 9), MAGIC Fall (~25,000, Aug 10 to 12), SuperZoo, and CHAMPS all land within weeks of each other (Las Vegas Convention Schedule). The city hosts more than 20,000 meetings and shows a year, and summer is one of the densest stretches.
What it means for your facility: Big shows mean big foot traffic, and foot traffic is what grinds down floors and carpet. Every visitor tracks in grit that acts like sandpaper on VCT finish and cuts carpet fibers from the inside. Lobbies, entries, and traffic lanes can take months of wear in a few weeks.
Our take: Heading into a high-traffic stretch is the right time to get ahead of it. A floor strip-and-wax before the surge protects the finish, and scheduled carpet extraction afterward pulls the abrasive grit out before it shortens your carpet’s life. Both cost a fraction of replacing worn surfaces.
