The Clark County Commission on August 19 approved entitlements for the next phase of the 26-acre district around the Athletics’ $2 billion ballpark on the former Tropicana site: a multi-level podium with a 953-space garage under a plaza of retail, dining and entertainment, plus a 2,500-seat theater, per the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The ballpark structure is now a full circle and remains on schedule for late-February 2028, with hotel-casino tower permits going before the commission September 16.
What it means
The south-Strip corridor is now committed to years of overlapping heavy construction — the ballpark through early 2028, the surrounding district after it, and Hard Rock’s tower rebuild pacing toward 2027 nearby. For offices, retail, medical suites and hospitality properties in the corridor, that means a long steady load of construction dust on entries, glass, and HVAC-adjacent surfaces, plus heavier foot and vehicle traffic grinding that grit into lobby floors.
